yet we remain always the student and full of gratitude

MARY EVANS RYT-500 Anusara® Certified Teacher

Mary’s love of yoga first began in the 1980s when she discovered teacher Lillias Folan and her program “Lillias Yoga and You” on a local PBS television station while living in rural Michigan. After nearly three decades of dabbling, guided by the TV, tapes and DVDs, she found her yoga bliss when she wandered in to Bodhi Coyote Yoga in Cave Creek in 2008 when she moved to Arizona. As her practice evolved, a search for deeper meaning led her to teacher training in 2013. Inspired by the beauty of nature and life’s subtle and sometimes not so subtle messages, Mary’s classes connect alignment based asana to the breath and to the Divine within us all. The mother of two grown sons, she lives in North Scottsdale with her husband and their very spoiled dog, Louie.

Sandra began practicing yoga out of curiosity and a means of incorporating variety into her fitness routine.  She immediately discovered it's transformative powers.  Upon moving to Cave Creek in 2012, Sandra discovered Anusara Yoga and enrolled in the Immersion and Teacher Training Program to deepen her understanding of the practice.  She has received her 200RYT from Yoga Village in Scottsdale, AZ.  Sandra is grateful to all of her teachers for their guidance and support down her path.  Upon completing the Teacher Training program, Sandra felt inspired to share the gift of yoga with others and give back to her community.  She teaches her class from her heart, creating an uplifting, safe environment for students who want to explore the gifts of yoga.

Mary took her first yoga class at the age of 60 after thirty years of saying she was not flexible enough to consider yoga!  She comes from both teaching and nursing backgrounds and admits to being a “professional student”.  The non-judgmental, totally accepting community of Anusara is one of the primary factors for her deep involvement into yoga.  If it were not for that, the rest of the practice she feels, would have been false.  Mary finds the mat practice of yoga applies more and more to the activities of one’s daily life.  The deeper one studies yoga, the more appreciation and acceptance one has of the irregularities in life.  Her students benefit from alignment, increased stamina and flexibility—and the benefits of laughter.  Mary honors and thanks each of her teachers, past and present, for their contributions to her life, especially the teachers at Bodhi Coyote.

Lynn started her journey as a yoga practitioner in her mid-thirties when she was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr after collapsing from her lifestyle of running a business and taking care of the household and her young child. Yoga was suggested to her. After many years of practice, life became very busy as it does and her practice diminished.  Life changes led her back to yoga and she soon realized that her heart was where it had always wanted to be. In 2014 she received her inner power teacher training with visions of helping others find the path to truly understanding peace through the practice and the philosophy of yoga.  She feels that life is a practice and we all need to find a place where we can be loving and respectful of ourselves and others.  Yoga is not just a form of exercise it is about connecting lovingly with our inner selves and everything that is outside ourselves.  Lynn's yoga instruction emanates from her heart.  She generously uses her empathic gift to give personal attention to the individual needs of her students and she has a special gift of guiding the body, mind and spirit in her class ending savasana segments.
